Armonte Hamilton, 28, of Harrisburg was arrested within hours of crews knocking down the house fire he allegedly set.
Swatara Police were dispatched to 209 N. 32nd Street for a person threatening to burn a dwelling during a domestic dispute on Saturday at approximately at 6:18 a.m.
While officers were responding to the scene they were notified that Emergency Dispatch Services received calls reporting the house on fire, according to police.
Upon arrival the officers found the front of the house heavily engulfed in flames.
Firefighters from the Paxtang Fire Company and other local agencies arrived on scene quickly and rapidly extinguished the fire.
Investigators from the Swatara Township Police and Dauphin County Fire Investigation Team determined that this fire was intentionally set by Hamilton.
Two people were displaced by the fire, the Red Cross provided assistance to one adult and one child.
No humans were injured in the fire, but a one-year-old Pit Bull died.
Hamilton has been charged with the following:
- F1 Arson-Danger Of Death Or Bodily Injury
- F2 Arson-Intent Destroy Unoccupied Building (2 counts)
- F2 Arson Endangering Property-Reckless Endangerment of Inhabited Buildings
- F3 Aggravated Cruelty to Animals - Causing Serious Bodily Injury or Death
- M2 Recklessly Endangering Another Person
He has been denied bail and is being held in the Dauphin County Prison.
His bail hearing has been scheduled for July 7, at 9:25 a.m.
